Partners in Health: Whatever it Takes

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Partners in Health is a non-profit health care organization who’s mission is to improve health in poor communities. Their five fundamental principles of work are to provide access to primary health care, free health care and education for the poor, community partnerships, addressing basic social and economic needs, and serving the poor through the public sector.

Their main goals are to provide care for their patients, reduce causes of common diseases in the community, and to share these stories with the rest of the world. Some of their most recent work includes providing support and health care in Haiti, Lesotho, Peri, Russia, Rwanda, USA and Kazakhstan.

If caring for the sick is where you want to dedicate your energies, it’s worth checking out this New York Times piece about the future of the healthcare landscape.
