Work That Matters: Donors Choose & Townsend Press

DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that helps educators get the resources they need for their classroom. Townsend Press is an organization who provides educational materials to low-income areas and have created libraries that sell books for $1. The two organizations have teamed up in hopes of improving children’s education by providing them with the accessibility and affordability of books.

Non-Profit Work vs. Corporate Jobs: Making Choices for a Dream

Maria Sazon, who was a vice president at a large financial services firm in NY, decided to nix the corporate world and fulfill her dream to do non-profit work. She is now the senior director of facilities initiatives for the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and is able to use her knowledge of finance and capital markets as an asset to schools to help them receive funding, which in turn allows more students to attend the schools and helps charter schools grow.

Sazon found her passion and feels like she is putting her talents and knowledge toward something rewarding; helping to give underprivileged children a high-quality education. Read more about Sazon’s mission here.
